$6000? Fully Loaded? Manual? American Insurance with Japanese Reliability? New?

I likey.

Only problems seem to be the scratch on the front, but most similar Vibes are going for 25% more, granted those do have about 40,000 less KMs. And one wheel is missing a bolt, and pontiac logo. Oh and, I assume it had the recall too.

This is one of 3 second gen Manual Vibes on Autotrader for me.

For those that don't know what a Pontiac Vibe is. It's a Toyota Matrix (Toyota Corolla Hatchback) but re badged and different exterior (which looks 100x better. The 2nd Gen Vibe actually looks good to me, stylish, especially with the GT body kit. Last gen was ugly).

You could get Vibe in the 1.8 2ZR-Fe (The Toyota Corolla's Standard Engine), or the 2.4L 2AZ-FE, which was the 2002-2011 base model Engine of the Toyota Camry. My personal Camry has the 2AZ-FXE, which is the hybrid version of the engine. the 2.4L was an option on the base model, but came standard in the AWD and GT flavours. You could get a 4 or 5 Speed Automatic, or a 5 Speed Manual. Both Corolla transmissions I believe.

Fun Fact: This Vibe was Pontiac's last new model.

Other than wikipedia and some minor research I don't know much about how this car is, but it just sounds like a Toyota Corolla Hatchback with better aesthetics and I can service at both GM and Toyota. It looks like a great car to learn manual in, and with the Camry's 4 Cyl, it should be decent (that engine is meant to push a much heavier car). Great of Fuel Economy and Cheap on Insurance. With Toyota reliability. I have a feeling this is going to get CP'd alot because it is a Corolla.

I'd go for a Mazda 3, but for the age, it's not too bad.

My Grandma has that, they eat gas like no tomorrow. I don't know why. Also rust, and I personally think the Vibe looks better, probably because it's way less common. I have considered Mazda 3 alot, but there always seems like better options. If I could get a Mazdaspeed 3 that'd be a different story.

My Mom has one and love's it. 120k miles and not a single thing needed done other than oil. It's even pretty fun when equipped with decent tires. NP

It's a Corolla, how bad can it possibly be, right?

My uncle's corolla is great, but the dealership not so much. This is the perfect thing because I avoid the terrible Toyota dealership.

If it's still on sale in a month or so, I actually might. I was thinking of selling my Camry for something cheaper on insurance, and giving the extra money to my mom, so she can buy her CRV or Legacy.

I will say that it is a bit uncomfortable for long distance trips, though. It's bad enough that I'd rather take my worn out, lifted 4Runner. It's a great commuter though.

I'm too young to be driving long trips anyways lol. My uncle takes his Corolla S to New York often, so it's not the worst thing to take.

Selling a car and giving some of the money to your mum for her own car? You're a good man, you know that?

Depends on what I can get for the Camry. I'm assuming I'd get $8000-9000

so $6000-$7000

This is all in theory though, so many things going on with the Camry. I might have more money, because my mom also wants to sell the Camry, split the money between us, and I get her Civic. Which i'd sell for something anyways.

I'm mostly interested in something you can do stuff too, I want something thats a daily driver but I can learn to toy around with. My Camry is Hybrid, I don't like touching it.

Thanks! The other thing we might do is sell my car, split the money, and I get her Civic. She might buy a new car, my step dad works for Honda and hes going to get a demo car soon too, so she can use that money for other things.

How about a supercharged Cobalt SS?

I wish. I'm getting rid of the Camry for insurance reasons mainly. It's one of the highest insurance rates in it's class because hybrid parts are expensive. I don't think a supercharged cobalt would be any better, sadly. The want is real though. 300ZX are in my price range too.

I say do it. There's no reason not too. Reliable and a VERY reasonable price sounds like a winner to me. It's also practical, gets decent MPG and a manual. Can't go wrong with this purchase.

It's seems all around fantastic. The Camry 4 Cyl is great on fuel economy, and when put in a lighter car like this, its probably even more fuel efficient and makes the car quicker. American branding makes the insurance much cheaper, as well as being built quite near me (the factory was my Grade 11 school trip). Parts are easy to find if I ever need them, It's good looking, practical, and manual.

I might get it if I can.

my wife has a 2009 Toyota matrix s, which has the 2.4 engine. I'm not really a fan of it. it only gets ok gas mileage (around 27 usually), the sport suspension with this package is stiff enough that you feel every bump but still doesn't feel sporty in the corners, and the engine likes to drink a quart of oil per oil change.

You don't want a 300ZX. They're very difficult to work on.

How old are you willing to go?

The oil thing is all Toyotas around this time sadly, My Camry has the same problem. I'm willing to live with it for all the stuff in this though, and the low price. I've driven my Uncle's Corolla S, I can't say for the hatch, but it felt sporty. But who am I to talk, fastest thing I've driven is a Ford Fusion.

Thanks for the info, I'll consider it if I get this.

I plan to get a 300ZX much after college and I have a steady job as a project car or something. When I can afford the problems.

I'm trying 2005+ I can go a little lower, but I don't want 90s.

The best one out of them is the Mazda 5. The Mazdaspeed 6 and 3 series are really bad on reliability and insurance. The Mini is unreliable, the RX8 is super awful on gas, and reliability.

I`d love all of these sadly, specially the Mazdaspeed 6, but I can't in my circumstances. I need something cheaper than the Camry on insurance, and relability, and probably gas too. I'm only 18 so something sporty is unlikely.

It's actually up for heavy consideration. It's one of my top picks, especially GT trim. I don't think it looks bad, and it's unique.

It's also much more efficient than the Vibe. You'll barely break 26 in the city with the Vibe.

Really? Makes me want the Mazda 5 more. I think the Vibe looks better, but the 5 has room for friends, and I think it looks good lowered a bit (not stanced), with some rims and in white. I want to do some cosmetic stuff to my next car for sure.

This is a Nice Price to me...

I was cross-shopping these recently. But I went with a Ford Focus Wagon instead as the Focus Wagon has a lot more trunk space.

Actually trust me the Mazda 5 also seems to have rust issues like the 3 from what I've read. I've researched them long and well because I used to really want one. And it gets now 5mpg LESS than the Vibe. Here are some facts for you.

Vibe GT

Mazda 5

The Vibe GT/Matrix XRS have stiffened suspension, like stiffer than a lowered RX8 stiff.

Ive driven a Corolla S, same suspension. Its very stiff, but the Camry is too soft. It'd be nice change I guess. Maybe I should drive my uncles S more.

Car - 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT A/C ALLOYS KEYLESS POWER PACKAGE SPOILER in Toronto, ON $5,998

Dumb American. Does ON $5,998 mean Canadian dollars, or American dollars?

NP or CP 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT

Dumb American. Which Pontiac is the Vibe?

Only problems seem to be the scratch on the front, but most similar Vibes are going for 25% more, granted those do have about 40,000 less KMs.

Dumb American. The kilometer is the small one versus the mile, whereas the kilogram is the big one versus the pound, right?

For those that don't know what a Pontiac Vibe is. It's a Toyota Matrix

Well, that answered question #1. Dumb American. Type R for fast, or is that a Honda thing?
